| Okay, i'll be the first to say NUNS2 isn't perfect.
Some of you might know these flaws, some of you might not. Here are some things about NUNS2 that are considered 'cheap'
1. After KnJing a combo, anyone can simply jutsu you in the back. Rasengan's, Chidori's and Gatsuuga's are probably the worst.
2. We should see the KnJ canceling into ougi topic started.
3. Grabs, an easy man's way out of being completely unsafe.
4. Ougis in the back after a KnJ
5. Chakra dash into ougi
6. Chakra dash into grab
People complain that this is a fighting game where you get punished for fighting... but what if we put simple rules to make it a fair fighting game?
(See above for reference to the rules)
1. This one is simple. Jutsu in the back are banned. This makes the cheapness of jutsu toned down to an extreme amount. If a person hits you with a jutsu in the back, in return they receive an ougi to the face, as their punishment for breaking the rules.
2. Even simpler than number one. Don't simply don't do it. Easy. You do it? Disqualification and the match goes to the other player.
3. A bit more of a touchy subject. Grabs are okay when used in peoples faces or even when canceled out of combos. But what if the person KnJs and grabs you? Completely unfair. Thus, if the person KnJs and grabs you, you also get a free grab in return. If that grab wins them the match, the match automatically goes to the person who was grabbed.
4. Another simple rule. Don't do this. It is very similar to KnJ cancelling since most ougis give invincible frames. This is automatic disqualification.
5. Only Hidan (and someone else I can't remember...) can do this, but this is most definantly cheap. Its a free ougi every time you hit a chakra dash (unless KnJed...) and this one is strictly banned.
6. Same as the grab after KnJ thing. A grab for a grab.
Now heres some tips on NUNS2 after establishing these rules:
Chakra Shuriken canceling
After an opponent KnJs your combo, you are wide open to their chain! Oh no how can I ever stop such a thing?
Cancel your chain with chakra shuriken. This doesn't work with every character, however most characters can cancel in the middle of their chain from simply throwing their chakra shuriken. However, if the opponent is quick enough you will not be able to cancel in time and you'll be stuck in their chain. This is mainly for if you miss your chain or the opponent runs away after KnJing.
X-Dash canceling
In the middle of certain characters chains, some can actually X-dash into an aerial combo and lead into some extra serious hurt (and leave them safer than they originally we're on the ground) however, this requires timing with each character's move and some characters don't have this at all. I'll try to post a video eventually on certain characters doing this. Shikamaru's works especially well with us UP chain, because he throws the bag which launches the shuriken, stunning them long enough for an X-dash to the face. (Just in case some of you don't know what an X-dash is, its tapping X or A twice quickly for your opponent to launch themselves towards the enemy).
Grab cancelling
Very little characters can really do this and get away with it. In certain parts of the chain, they can cancel their combo into a grab to make themselves safer, and their chains harder to KnJ. However, most characters cannot do this, thus leading the opponent able to jump away safely from your chain.
(The rules can be used on tournaments and casual play etc)
My brain is a bit out of it atm, so if I remember more, i'll post more!

| The majority of your tips were obvious to those who have played the UN series, but they were helpful nonetheless in at least establishing that these methods for battling still work well in this version of the game.
However there are numerous of problems with your rules that I can't necessarily indicate due to me not actually having the game, but your ideas to make the game fair are good ideas, but nearly impossible to referee and stay on top of. Every battle is different and restricting something like "no jutsus when your enemy has his back turned" seems utterly stupid to me. In fighting games, you're suppose to look for the weak point in a person's defense and the back tends to be the easiest target. Is it fair? No. Is that how most battles are one? Hell yeah.
Anyway, as far as I know, as jutsus are avoidable with a simple substitution jutsu, so if your reflexes are quick enough, an attack to the back is no problem. Although I think something along the lines of "no countering after substitutions" would be effective. I'm not sure; it's a ruleset I have to experiment with to see its fairness - don't have the game yet though.. >_> Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2Ф..Disappointed with Mainstream nowadays...Ф

| Thats the point, if people receive a jutsu to the back everytime their chain is subbed, why do combos in the first place? This is why that type of thing if banned Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 |

This is why that type of thing if banned | That's why a simple "no counters after a KnJ" rule would help. Or even better and more so fair, that can't preform jutsus of any type. The only problem with this is refereeing this. It's not as easy as with Dissidia Final Fantasy because the judges can't see what happened in the match - DFF had a battle replay option, that you could convert into an AVI. Simply taking the word of the two competitors is difficult..Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2Ф..Disappointed with Mainstream nowadays...Ф

| the tourney's arent rl, how would you stream say, a match between me, and someone else that does not live in your area? etc the best way is to limit rules to the best of our ability and then just let it go, since not all of us an upload video's so that you can check them. | I agree with Halla. Limiting things helps in tournies like this where you can't record everything. And you can't expect everyone to play fair so you have to limit them enough so the battles are still fun and easy to play fairly. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2Main: Lars/Konan/Kabuto |
